Camping Pretend Play for Kids
We're not quite in official camping season (at least not here in the Pacific Northwest), but it's never too early for some camping pretend play! Build a blanket tent in the living room, make a pretend fire, and tell silly stories. These are the current summer and camping themed felt foods in my shop right now.
Summer is defined by juicy slices of watermelon! Whether on a camping trip, at a BBQ, picnic, or in your backyard, almost nothing is more iconic to the season! You can buy your 1/8th slice of watermelon in my Etsy shop, or buy 8 slices for a complete circle (great for homeschooling or classroom use to learn about fractions).
I absolutely love watermelon, despite being allergic to it. The bright reddish pink flesh against the striped green rine is so attractive, which makes them a great set of colors for summer accessories. It's a great theme for a party, too. Check out these fun ideas from Amazon (I love this collage!).
Is there anything better on a cool morning than a hot cup of coffee? Since kids usually don't prefer coffee, we do hot cocoa for them instead. For real cocoa, a 6 oz mug is the perfect size, so these felt mugs are based on that size. They even come with a gingerbread cookie in a camping theme! You can find other hot cocoa mug designs in my shop!
The classic peanut butter and jelly sandwich is perfect for camping, hiking, and picnics (if you're not allergic to nuts), because it's shelf-stable both before and after assembly. These felt sandwiches are even better! No only are they nut-free, but these will never mold, squish jam everywhere, or need to be replaced. Grab one for every member in the family to ensure that no one goes hungry on your adventures.
You can't talk about camping pretend play without S'mores! This S'more play set comes with two "raw" marshmallows with a hole for the roasting stick and one assembled S'more sandwich with an extra gooey melted chocolate effect (pictured). The set is also available with the sandwich deconstructed and in four pieces instead.
I hope this has given you a lot of ideas for camping pretend play. Whether you're in your living room, making a tent in the backyard, or travelling, it's always a good time for some imaginative play! Click on the rectangle before to visit my shop and see all the other things I have to offer.
